City ordinances have been established to provide a safe and efficient flow of traffic and pedestrians. They are critical to maintaining a high quality of life for Newport's residents and visitors.

Ordinances may provide for turnover of spaces in areas where parking availability is at a premium or to keep streets clear for emergency vehicle access.

These ordinances would be meaningless without enforcement; and for this reason we have officers and traffic aides who consistently and fairly patrol city streets and parking lots to promote voluntary compliance with parking ordinances.

The parking violation review procedure was created to improve the quality of service we provide to the community. If you believe your parking ticket was issued in error, kindly provide the information requested in the form below and click "Submit" at the bottom of the page. We will review the information provided and you will receive a written response by mail within 30 days.

The notice you receive will either inform you that your request to have the ticket voided was approved or that it was denied. You can then either choose to pay the fine or request a hearing in Newport Municipal Court.

Please note that your fine will not double so long as you followed the directions on the ticket (your request for review must be made within 10 days of the ticket issue date).
